Hume-r Me Quote 4

“But the life of a man is of no greater importance to the universe than that of an oyster.”

This is part of the Chalk it up to Science range from Nerdlish.

David Hume was an 18 century Scottish philosopher who was a key figure in the Scottish Enlightenment. Hume believed that sense data was all that existed going so far as to propose that the features of objects are all that exist (Bundle Theory). He proposes that it is only the accumulation of all the sensory inputs are all that exist and not the object itself.

-Know Your Stuff-
The above quote humbles mankind in comparison to the immensity of the universe. We are nothing more than a speck of dust.
